SAN JOSE – A 90-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 67-year-old daughter-in-law, authorities said.
Police found out Karen Navarra's beaten body on September 13 while making a welfare check at her home on Terra Noble Way, east of Piedmont Road and Penitencia Creek Park. According to police, she did not show up for work the week before.
Navarra was declared dead on the scene.
The death was declared homicide only after the autopsy. Navarra died of blunt trauma, according to San Jose policeman, Gina Tepoorten.
Additional details about the alleged murder were not immediately available on Thursday.
"The motives and circumstances surrounding the homicide are still being investigated," said Tepoorten.
The detectives finally identified Navarre's father-in-law, Anthony Aiello, as a suspect in his murder. Aiello was arrested Tuesday in San Jose and sentenced to Santa Clara County Prison for murder.
The death of Navarre marked the 20th homicide of the city of the year. San Jose had recorded 23 homicides at the same time in 2017.
