Ninety-three other women accused George Tyndall, a former gynecologist at the University of Southern California, of sexual misconduct in two new lawsuits filed against the doctor and the school, according to their lawyer.
According to CNN, former students have made charges against Tyndall, including sexual assault and harassment. They also accused USC of ignoring complaints about the long-time doctor, who worked for 30 years as the only full-time gynecologist at the university clinic until his retirement, in 2017.
About 20 women appeared Thursday at a news conference to announce new lawsuits, reports the Associated Press.
"I am part of an accidental fraternity of hundreds of women because the university we love has betrayed our trust," said Dana Loewy, who alleges Tyndall assaulted her in 1983.
The women claim to have been abused and abused by Tyndall during their usual medical appointments at the University Health Center. Some said Tyndall made racist and derogatory remarks, showed them images of the genitals or asked to photograph them under the pretext of "research".
Tyndall denied the allegations, and a statement by his lawyer said his interrogations "were for medical purposes stated," according to CNN.
The new lawsuits follow Tyndall's charges against more than 50 other women in July. In total, some 500 women have filed complaints against Tyndall since 1988, according to the AP.
Tyndall's medical license was suspended in August. Former USC President, C. L. Max Nikias, resigned the same month as a result of the allegations.
Lawyer John Manly has asked California to investigate USC about the new allegations. He also criticized individual members of USC's board of directors for failing to denounce the case.
"They did not say a word. Not one, said Manly. "All these women: 500. You are on the board. Say something."
The US Department of Education is also investigating whether USC has attempted to conceal the allegations, AP reported in August.
