For his show "Late Show" aired Monday night, Stephen Colbert prompted his Charles Dickens to put on an old suit and usurp "A Christmas Carol", with the help of Jake Gyllenhaal.

Colbert plays the character of Ebeneezer Scrooge-esque who wakes up with pictures of three "ghosts" next to his bed – Republican leaders Chuck Grassley, Mitch McConnell and Orrin Hatch. While rushing to the streets to make sure he did not sleep on election day, he harasses a city dweller, a very unmoved Gyllenhaal, looking for answers.

"Tell me – my boy!" Colbert tells Gyllenhaal.

"I'm 37," he replies.

Soon, it comes to the fact that Colbert, in his enthusiasm for election day, forgot to wear pants under his old fashioned nightgown.

"There is still time to vote, here, my boy, take this bright silver crown and go buy the biggest goose at mid-season that you can find!" S & P exclaimed by throwing a coin at Gyllenhaal.

"You know I can see your nightgown, right?" Gyllenhaal answers. "Seriously, man, you have to put some briefs in. I can see all the election results and they turn left."

Colbert will be online on election night to cover the elections, as will "Late Night With Seth Meyers", "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah".
