CHRISTIANA, TN (WSMV) – A woman was killed and several others were injured after several tornadoes struck one night in Middle Tennessee.

The National Weather Service in Nashville sends a tornado investigation team to Christiana, Rutherford County. The second crew will go to the counties of Lawrence and Wayne.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville sends a tornado investigation team to the Estill Srpings area in Franklin County.

Walker is the wife of Scott Walker, president of WGNS Radio. She was ten days away from her 42nd birthday.

"The family wishes to thank the community for its love and support during this tragic time," WGNS Radio said in a statement posted on its website.

The teams also responded to reports that a nearby mobile home had turned upside down. Two people were reportedly taken to the hospital. The severity of their injuries is not clear.

The fire is declared around 12:30 pm on Barley Road.



At approximately 12:30 pm on Tuesday, firefighters responded to a house fire at 111 Barley Road. Officials said the fire was probably caused by lightning striking the attic. The family was able to go outside safely thanks to its smoke detector.

In total, three families were displaced in Rutherford County because of the violent storms that hit Middle Tennessee overnight.

Officials from Rutherford County urged residents to stay indoors and stay away from the debris of the storm. They expect all roads to be clear at noon.

According to the director of EMA, a group of violent storms and a possible tornado shot down several large trees and took power in Lawrence County.

The crews started assessing the damage and clearing the roads around midnight on Tuesday.

The most serious damage was found in Loretto and along the Giles County line.
