An unruly passenger was arrested after a Southwest Airlines flight landed on Tuesday at the Newark Liberty International Airport.
While the airline would only say that there was a "situation" with a passenger on board flight 864 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a witness wrote on Twitter the man tried to leave the plane and attacked a flight attendant before tying him up.
Southwest said briefly that the emergency situation had not been declared, that the plane had landed safely and that the man had been stopped.
No one was assaulted or injured, said the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in a statement. The passenger, who was restless for the last minutes of the flight, was then taken to the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation. His name has not been published.
