A Russian fighter jet is flying too close to a US military plane

(WASHINGTON) – The Pentagon said on Monday that a Russian fighter plane had flown dangerously close to a US military reconnaissance plane in the international airspace over the Black Sea.

Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said the Russian SU-27 had made a high-speed pass directly in front of the US EP-3 and was "very, very close" to the US plane. Pahon says that the Russian jet then activated the afterburner systems, creating more turbulence, then performed a second pass by the US aircraft.

He said the meeting was considered dangerous and that the US pilots and crew were in danger. He says that there was no communication between the two aircraft and that the incident lasted for about 25 minutes.

The American ship EP-3 Aries left Souda Bay, Greece, and was carrying out routine operations.
