CLARKSBURG, West Virginia – In November, the personal finance website WalletHub, dedicated to personal finance, publishes a report on the 2018 Fattest States in America, as well as interesting data and statistics on diabetes.
Through this report, WalletHub has been able to find statistics on the overweight and obese population in the state of West Virginia that many residents of West Virginia might find worrying.
According to WalletHub, to determine the states that contribute the most to the problem of overweight and obesity in the United States, the site compared the 50 states (and Washington DC) on 25 key indicators. These parameters range from the overweight and obese population to the consumption of sugary drinks among teens to the cost of health care related to obesity, among many others.
According to the study, West Virginia is ranked second among the "craziest American states in 2018", behind Mississippi in the forefront.
In a separate report that dealt only with obesity, West Virginia ranked 6th among the most obese states in the United States, among adults and children.
