CARLSBAD – A few days after upsetting the Giants baseball operations department, CEO Larry Baer said he would methodically search for a "great baseball spirit".
The giants have now hired a man known as one of the best players.
Farhan Zaidi will move to the other side of the rivalry, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area, the team confirmed Tuesday, moving from general manager of the Dodgers to president of the Giants baseball operations. Zaidi, 41, will finally have complete control of her own office, falling solely under the property.

Zaidi, a graduate in economics from MIT and Cal, began his career as an A baseball operations analyst. He was promoted to director of baseball operations in 2009 and became assistant general manager in 2014.
"I'm delighted to return to the Bay Area and join one of the game's most prestigious franchises," Zaidi said in a statement released by the giants. "I have watched the giants from afar and I have great respect for the organization's culture and its many accomplishments.I am excited about this new opportunity and I look forward to being able to put myself at the job."
A managing director, David Forst, one of Zaidi's good friends, said that he stood out immediately.
"We initially hired Farhan because of his personality," Forst said on Tuesday. "Not because of his doctorate or his analysis chops or anything else. Billy (Beane) and I really liked him.
With the A's, Zaidi was involved in all aspects of player development. He is known for his statistical analysis and certainly corresponds to the description of "new generation" given by Baer in September, but he is also known for his taste for scouting. Brian Sabean, the former Executive Director who served as vice-president of baseball operations, has always emphasized that Giants are more interested in screening than most organizations. Finding a person honoring both sides of the coin has been a priority.
"He's a man who integrates well with scouts and has always wanted to play games with guys, and I'm sure he continued to do it as much as possible with the Dodgers," Forst said. "This is the last type you would like to classify as a simple analytic."
When Andrew Friedman moved from Tampa Bay to Los Angeles, he chose Zaidi as General Manager of what would become the Dodgers' mighty counter.
"I felt that our skills would complement each other perfectly, and that's as good as I could imagine," Friedman said.
