Mr. Ratelband thinks changing his age will improve his chances of finding the Tinder dating app

A Dutch pensioner has started a legal battle to legally change his age and improve his chances of going to school.

Emile Ratelband, 69, wishes to spend his birthday from March 11, 1949 to March 11, 1969, comparing this change to an identification as transgender.

"You can change your name, you can change sex, why not your age?" he told the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

A local court in the city of Arnhem, southeast of Amsterdam, is expected to rule on the case in four weeks.

The Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad said the court was skeptical of the trial, saying there was no legal mechanism allowing a person to change his date of birth.

But Mr Ratelband claimed that he felt discriminated against because of his age and that it affected his job chances and his success rate on dating application, Tinder.

"When I'm 69, I'm limited.If I'm 49, I can buy a new house, drive a different car, I can take more work," he said.

"When I'm on Tinder and I'm told that I'm 69, I do not have an answer. When I'm 49, with my face, I'll be in a position luxury."

Mr. Ratelband further asserted that according to his doctors, he had the body of a 45-year-old man and described himself as a "young god".

The retiree also stated that he would waive his pension when he changed his date of birth.

The Dutch Constitution expressly prohibits discrimination in employment based on age.

Mr. Ratelband is a media personality and motivational speaker, who is a trainer in neurolinguistic programming.

He played the character of Vladimir Trunkov in the Dutch version of Pixar Cars 2.
