The Penguins and Capitals were tied 1-1 by 58 minutes of play tonight, but the real loser of the evening already seemed to be Washington winger T.J. Oshie. Oshie was inflicted two hard shots by Pittsburgh, which made him out of the game twice, while the poor guy was just trying to play hockey. Everything went well, though.
First, at the beginning of the period, Oshie was hit in the face by an accidental snare on his left eye by Olli Maatta. He left the game for the locker room, but would come back early in the second.
And later, in the third, Oshie received a very hard and not so accidental blow from Evgeni Malkin to the lead as the front of the Penguins entered the offensive zone. Malkin would be ejected for that shot, while Oshie would return to the locker room again.
For now, you can not blame Oshie for thinking, "Well, it's just not my night," and stop the rest of the game. But Oshie returned and his perseverance was worth it. At 1:15 of the end of regulation time, Oshie took a perfect pass from John Carlson, right in front of the net, and did not hesitate to bury the winner in front of a diver, Casey DeSmith.
Winning the game against his rival is even better than Vicodin.
