There is a new sheriff in town.
Carl Grimes, on the verge of succeeding one day father Rick Grimes at the head of the comics of the creator Robert Kirkman, was a victim of The dead who walk Season eight, where he was played by veteran Chandler Riggs series.
Sunday, after the apparent death of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) – who in reality had been taken away by Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) in a helicopter at unknown locations – a six-year-old jump revealed a gun carrying away nine-year-old daughter who is presented as Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming).
Wearing the same sheriff's hat that her father once wore before passing it on to her half-brother, Judith recalled the memory of a young Carl Grimes, whose comic book counterpart played an important role during the Walking Dead books being explored in the TV show.
Scott Gimple, former five seasons Walking Dead In December, Carl's comic book stories would be leaked and distributed to the characters who survived him:
"We are determined to continue telling the story from the comics. Yes, it will be different. And yes, the relationship between Negan and Carl was an important part of the future, especially in the global changes we are seeing very early on. But, as usual, we plan to tell these comical stories, "said the executive producer EW.
"It will have to be with different people and it's a different way of telling these same stories. But we still hope to accomplish what these stories do. "
The film presents a glimpse of Carl's stories: in the first episode of season 9, Marco (Gustavo Gomez) spoke of an apprenticeship with Earl (John Finn), father of Ken's blacksmith (AJ Achinger) – a position held by Carl.
Comic Carl would organize illegal sit-downs with imprisoned Negan (played in the series by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who has already attended cell visits made by Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan).
The post-war relationship between Carl and Negan will remain unexplored – much to Morgan's disappointment – but a recently released trailer for episodes 906-908 reveals a still imprisoned Negan talking to an invisible person through the bars of his cell, letting dynamic foresight could still play with Judith in Carl's place.
"There was a whole story in which Robert wrote that I was excited to play, and it did not happen like that. It ended a bit abruptly, "admitted Morgan during the day. Walking dead womanHall H sign at Comic-Con San Diego in July.
"Sometimes you do not know what's going to happen. That's what keeps us on our guard. I think this relationship brought out something in the two characters that we do not see otherwise. These character traits that Carl has highlighted in Negan, I hope they will be by some other means because I think [contributed] a lot to humanize Negan.
Henry (Matt Lintz), now a teenager, has inherited Carl's biggest cartoon story: a romance story at Romeo and Juliet with Lydia (Cassady McClincy), daughter of Alpha (Samantha Morton ), the ruthless leader of soon-to arrive a new enemy group the Whisperers.
As for Riggs, who has since moved on to other projects, the former Carl Grimes star pointed to Walker Stalker Con Orlando in September that he was "really excited to see what they were doing. "
"In fact, I was really excited for the rest of Carl's story arches," said Riggs. "But it will be interesting to see how they fill this gap."
Judith, the last surviving Grimes, seems to fill this gap. The dead who walk, who seems to be the real successor to Lincoln's missing Rick.
"I used to say that Carl would grow up and have kids and that his kids would take over with all his grandchildren, so obviously that can not work like that," said executive producer David Alpert Huffington Post.
"But Judith, she's a bit scathing. I think it's possible to see Judith grow up and take charge of the whole team. "
The dead who walk broadcasts on Sundays at 9h / 8c on AMC.
