On this Veterans Day, veterans and active duty military can enjoy an extra day of bargains.

As every year, restaurants greet veterans by offering free food and meal offers.

Thanks to the federal holiday falling on Sunday, it is officially observed Monday. This leads to a split with some companies showing their appreciation Sunday and others on Monday.

Proof of service, such as a piece of military identity, is usually required and some companies allow wearing the uniform as a form of identification. Discharge papers, VA cards and veteran organization membership cards can also be used to prove the service in most businesses.
