An air hostess made an extra effort for a mother who was running out of formula to feed her baby on a domestic flight to the Philippines.
Philippine Airlines flight attendant Patrisha Organo heard a crying baby shortly after takeoff and "approached the mother to ask if everything was fine," she wrote in a Facebook post, including a picture of the young child.
"The eyes in tears, she [the mother] I said that she had no more milk powder, "Organo wrote about Tuesday's robbery.
Organo, who has a girl at home, said she felt "pinched in the heart" as there was no formula in the plane.
"I thought I could only offer one thing, it was my own milk. And so I offered, "she wrote.
A colleague brought the mother to the galley "where I breastfed the baby," wrote Organo, who describes herself as a breastfeeding advocate.
"I saw the relief on her mother's eyes. I kept feeding the baby until he got asleep. I drove her back to her seat and just before leaving, the mother thanked me sincerely.
Organo said that she knew that the flight was going to be important. On this flight, she was not only qualified for the role of Cabin Evaluator, but she also "had to help".
"Thank you Lord for the gift of breast milk," she wrote.
Breastfeeding has many health benefits for babies. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it reduces the risk of some infections, type 2 diabetes and asthma, to name a few.
