The Kardashian-Jenner family is one of many people in Southern California who were forced to evacuate their homes following two fires that erupted on Thursday.

"It's chaotic and devastating for everyone in the fire zone," a source close to the family told PEOPLE. "Kim, Kourtney and Kylie are not only unhappy with their own situation, they are also thinking about all the other people affected."
The source adds, "They find it devastating on so many levels. At present, they are evacuated with their families. Of course, they will help other affected people as soon as possible. For them, it's about the community they love so much. "

Kim, 38, had just returned to her Hidden Hills property when she discovered that Calabasas was threatened by the Woosley fire. After sharing photos of the fire from the seat of her private plane, Kim told the fans that she had an hour "to pack up and evacuate our house".
"I pray for everyone to be safe," said Kim, then sharing a picture of her and her three children (North, 5, Saint, 2 and Chicago, 9 months) sitting out on the sidewalk in pajamas.
Kourtney, 39, also fled for his safety – updating his fans on Instagram Stories. "I pray that everyone will be safe and protected from these fires," she subtitled a photo of the trunk of her car, packed with her belongings. "No Calabasas tonight."

Kim then provided an update on Friday explaining that "the flames have hit our property here in Hidden Hills, but are now more contained and have stopped for the moment."
"It does not seem that the situation is getting worse right now, I'm just praying for the winds to be favorable. God is good. I'm just praying for everyone to be safe, Kim said.
A combination of high winds and low humidity caused a rapid spread of brush fires, CNN reported.
The Woolsey fire covers 7,500 acres located in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and has resulted in the evacuation of 30,000 homes, reported CNN. Another project, Hill Fire, has spread to the Newbury Park area, just a few blocks from the Thousand Oaks bar where 12 people were killed in a shootout on Wednesday.
