Two men were hospitalized after a bloody dispute Saturday morning on the red line heading south from the Loop, Chicago police said.
The confrontation between the two men took an extreme turn when the 24-year-old pulled out his gun and shot him in the belly at 12:15 as the train was heading towards CTA's Cermak-Chinatown station, the police said.
In return, said the police, the 38-year-old grabbed the weapon of the young man who just shot him and started beating him.
While other passengers were running away from the wagon while he was heading to the wharf located in the 100 block of West Cermak Road, police officers found the two men – one shot of fire, the other stunned – still in the wagon of the Red Line.
The two men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the gunshot victim was recently classified in fair condition, police said Saturday morning.
The shooter was in custody, the police said.
