TOKYO (AP) – A US fighter aircraft from the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier crashed into the sea northeast of the Philippines on Monday, but his two pilots were rescued safely.
The 7th Fleet of the US Navy stated that the F / A-18 Hornet had a mechanical problem during routine operations in the Philippine Sea.
A rescue plane quickly pulled the pilots out of the water and brought them back to the ship, the navy said in a statement. They were in good condition and the aircraft carrier has since resumed normal operations, the navy said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The F / A-18 was part of the Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard the Ronald Reagan, announced the Navy.
