Disney and Pixar released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 Monday.
The fourth installment of the franchise draws viewers with Woody (Tom Hanks) after one of its human owners, Bonnie, has added a new toy named Forky (Tony Hale) to her bedroom. The toys embark on an adventure on the road that shows them how big and exciting the world can be.
The film is also starring Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, Don Rickles, Jeff Pidgeon, Michael Keaton, Timothy Dalton, Jeff Garlin and Laurie Metcalf. Josh Cooley directed the animation film.
The trailer opens on Woody, Buzz Lightyear (Allen), Jessie (Cusack), Mr. Potato Head (Rickles), Ms. Potato Head (Harris), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (Ratzenberger), a stranger (Pidgeon) and Slinky Dog (Clark) holding hands in a circle. Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" plays as text on the screen that announces that the highly anticipated film will debut next summer.
The circle of friends ends with the Forky Toy Fortune. "I do not belong here," he exclaims before letting go of Slinky Dog and Woody's hands and out of the circle. The interruption of the new player triggers a chain reaction that forces other toys to lose control of their personality.
Forky then addresses the camera and explains, "I'm not a toy."
"Hey, hey, somebody takes it before he looks around," says Woody off screen, when we see Forky running away.
The last Toy Story The film was released in theaters in 2010 and has grossed more than a billion dollars at the global box office.
Toy Story 4 will be released in cinemas on June 21, 2019.
