The New Orleans Saints won’t have Dez Bryant this season, but they found another big-bodied receiver to add to their passing attack.
Brandon Marshall agreed to a one-year contract with the team on Monday, coach Sean Payton confirmed.
Marshall, 34, played seven games for the Seattle Seahawks this season before he was released on Oct. 30. He recorded 11 catches for 136 receiving yards and a touchdown. He worked out for the Saints last week before the team decided to sign Bryant, who subsequently suffered a torn Achilles that ruled him out for the season.
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Marshall will be playing for his seventh different team in 13 seasons. He has never played in a playoff game, a streak that should end if he continues on with the 8-1 Saints.
New Orleans had been in the market for another outside threat to complement Pro Bowl selection Michael Thomas. No other wide receiver on the Saints’ roster has more than 12 catches this season.
