For about a year now, the new Jeep pickup truck based on the Wrangler series of the JL series has been dubbed Scrambler. But according to a new post from Jeep Scrambler ForumThis may not be the case. The forum met a section of Fiat Chrysler's website called "2020 Jeep Gladiator", now removed, indicating that the automaker could revive a name that it had started using more than 50 years ago.

Jeep used the name Gladiator on pickup trucks built in the 1960s. In 2005, Jeep brought back the name of a pick-up concept that gave us hope for future Jeeps featuring 39, a bed after the suspension of the XJ Comanche chassis. Of course, the Scrambler name also has a story related to the 1980s CJ-8 pickups.

Jeep Scrambler Forum says he's confirmed his discovery with a "source of long-standing trust". When we contacted a Jeep spokesman, he declined to comment.

Earlier this month, the forum also revealed a teaser of the new Jeep pickup revealed at a FCA dealership presentation. In addition to a photo of the camouflaged van, the presentation gave some vague clues about the model, including the fact that it will come with "15 innovations exclusive to the class" and "advanced new generation security systems". It will also offer the latest infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
