Israel was re-elected sheriff in 2016 as a democrat.
Florida law allows voting defendants to vote if they have not been sentenced. While Cruz has confessed to the murder, he is still awaiting trial.
"Eliminating the right to vote of an eligible person awaiting trial is illegal," said Veda Coleman-Wright, spokesman for the sheriff's office, according to the NBC affiliate, WFLA, Tampa. "BSO serves as a mail between the inmates and the office of the election supervisor."
In an interview with Fox News Channel on Fox & Friends on Sunday, Pollack called Cruz's "dagger in the heart" record.
"What also kills me is that my daughter has just turned 18," he said. "That would have been her first election and she was stolen."
Pollack, a declared supporter of President Donald Trump, continued to tweet Saturday and Sunday, warning that "Sleaze Ball Democrats"should not be allowed to "steal" a recount of ballot papers in the indecisive election in the Senate between Democratic Senator Bill Nelson and Republican Governor Rick Scott.
