The last few days have resulted in devastating losses for many residents of the Malibu area due to forest fires that have spread throughout the weekend. And now, the name of Miley Cyrus can be added to the list of those who have seen their house destroyed. Miley Cyrus confirmed that she had lost her home during the California wildfires, reaching out to Twitter to inform her fans of the upsetting news. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances she faces, the singer has chosen to leave things on a note of hope with a message stating how grateful she is for all that she still has.
Cyrus' tweet mentioned that she considers herself one of the luckiest since her animals and her "love of my life", a clear reference to her fiance Liam Hemsworth. Bring Malibu home safely before the flames hit. And even if it's terrible to see all your personal belongings destroyed, she chooses to stay positive in the light of everything.
"Completely devastated [sic] by fires affecting my community. I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE have done well and that's all that matters at the moment, "Cyrus tweeted late Sunday night. My house is gone, but the memories shared with family and friends are solid. "
The message, which continued throughout a series of consecutive tweets, continued:
"I am grateful for all that I have left, sending so much love and gratitude to the firefighters and the country of Los Angeles [sic] The sheriff's department! If you are interested in participating, check out the next tweet …. Donate Money, Time, Supplies I Love You More Than Ever, Miley "
In addition, she provided links to all the places where people can donate to help in the aftermath of the fires, which burned 83,000 acres of Southern California, according to Entertainment tonight. Firefighters still try to contain the fires a few days later.
The pop star is not the only celebrity to have been affected by the Woolsey Fire. Gerard Butler went to Instagram Sunday to share a photo of the burnt remains of his home, although he was grateful for all the heroic work done by the firefighters to help stop the fire before it could to arrive at countless others.
"I went home to Malibu after evacuating," Butler said in his caption. "Heartbreaking Moment Across California." Inspired as always by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. " The actor also provided Monday video footage of other homes and neighborhoods in the region completely destroyed by fire in the hope that the reality of the situation inspires others to donate and support efforts to help those who have lost everything. The caption of the video reads as follows:
"Drive around Point Dume Saturday My heart is painful for all those who have lost their homes and lives in California.I've been one of the luckiest, my home has been only partially destroyed, many people have lost everything and will have to rebuild I agree and I am very grateful for all my wishes for success Thank you for supporting those who need it most here and In all of California there is a Go Fund Me to help people affected by fires throughout the state, if you can.
It's nice to see Cyrus and Butler using their platform for the greater good. Hopefully this extra support will be able to help the victims of this disaster and help these two stars get lost after the loss of their home.
