Patriots-Titans movie review: What caused Tom Brady's struggles in defeat? | Patriots of New England

Is it time to start talking about Tom Brady? It may be time to talk about Tom Brady.

No, we do not think the New England Patriots' quarterback has hit the "cliff", and he's still one of the best NFL quarterbacks this season, leading his team to a 7-under -3. But Brady has not been 10 times in the season, and he had his worst performance of the year in the 34-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans in New England.

Brady scored 21 goals out of 41 for 254 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. This is the second time in three weeks that Brady has not scored a touchdown. He now has 27 touchdowns this season, which would be his lowest score since 2013, when he had only 25 goals, targeting players like Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson.

A problem that Brady seems to face is that he sometimes forces the ball wide receiver Josh Gordon. The 12 targets of the crew equaled Julian Edelman for most of Sunday. Edelman caught nine passes for 104 yards. Gordon, meanwhile, caught four passes for 81 yards.

Gordon is a major threat every time the ball passes in front of him, but he is also understandable, unreliable. Gordon arrived at the Patriots two weeks after the start of the 2018 season. Growing pains are expected, and Brady and Gordon are clearly trying to overcome them. But sometimes this is done to the detriment of successful readers.

Brady's best pass to Gordon came third and 13th with 10:49 remaining in the first quarter. The Patriots grabbed the Titans in the area and had an advantageous duel with Gordon covered by linebacker Wesley Woodyard and safety Kevin Byard. Brady's pass was well placed and Gordon won for a 44-yard win.

Then, the next three passes of Brady were all won by Gordon, nothing to show.

The first crossed Gordon's arms.

The next came on a quick hitch. The cornerback of Titans Adoree Jackson immediately dropped Gordon without gain.

The third target is inclined. The bullet sounds from Gordon's hands.

Brady's next target for Gordon at the end of the first quarter was first and tenth. Gordon grabbed a pass on a 10-yard lane and added another 4 yards after the shot.

Brady's next attempt against Gordon came after James White was copied from behind and Cordarrelle Patterson.

The game, which was played on a huge set with offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle, sent a single receiver, Gordon, back.

Gordon was double, so Brady intentionally set him aside. Gordon had fallen into the end zone by the time the ball landed.

Gordon slipped again on Brady's next big receiver target.

Brady has targeted Gordon five more times in the match. Two passes were broken, one was thrown, one was knocked down and Gordon gained 23 yards on a sloped road.

We also talked a lot about Brady's "noodle arm" after Sunday's match. I did not see him.

Overall, these are the causes of Brady's 20 shortcomings:

– Seven reversals
– Chess in four passes
– Two reversals
– reverse
– Spike
– Drop
– The ball crossed Gordon's arms
– The ball bounced on Julian Edelman's helmet
– Gordon slipped on the road
– Behind White, possibility of miscommunication

That's at least 12 failures that have nothing to do with the strength or accuracy of Brady's arms.

Seven scraps, that's a lot for a match. The Titans did a good job by marrying their rush in the pass and their cover. Brady's receivers were not open, and by the time they could find space, the pass was taking over the offensive line.

On one of the reinforcements, Brady seemed to run out of speed on a pitch close to White's side line. Brady's decision-making, however, was a bigger problem than the strength of his arm or his precision. At least one of the three bags he ate was his fault, and he missed an open match, Chris Hogan, to target Gordon or Edelman on several spinoffs.

Brady was troubled by what Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and defensive coordinator Dean Pees – both with the Patriots – were throwing at him, and that seemed to be going to his head. The fact that it does not seem physical is a good sign. Brady usually has no trouble making decisions, and he should be back to normal after the next week off.

Here are our other observations from this week's movie review:

– Maybe the biggest series of the game took place at the end of the second quarter, when the Titans got the ball while it was 5:26. The Patriots were only 17 to 10 years behind. Two titles in the series, the Titans faced the third-17 and were converted into a 20-yard pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota wide receiver Corey Davis on Stephon Gilmore.

A game and a false start, later, the Titans faced the second-14. They converted after a 12-yard reconciliation between Mariota and tight halfback Jonnu Smith on linebacker Kyle Van Noy and a 11-yard finish between Mariota and Titans on Anthony Firkser on safety Devin McCourty. Offensive Derrick Henry scored after two 1-yard passes on the 2-yard line.

The Patriots recovered the ball with 1:09 left and made three first attempts, but failed to pass the Titans 43-meter line.

If the Patriots had stopped the Titans for a goal or a goal, they would have had more time to score and it would have been a match at seven or ten points. Instead, the Patriots were hit by two touchdowns and could not leave the field until the end of halftime.

In an ideal world, the Patriots force the Titans to beat, have plenty of time to score a touchdown, recover the ball after the half, score again, are suddenly ahead and the game changes.

Instead, the Patriots played behind all matches and have never been closer to a seven-point deficit to contend with victory.

– Cornerback Stephon Gilmore had his worst game of the season, giving over 90 yards and a touchdown and being scored twice for pass interference. Security Patrick Chung also dropped a touchdown and debated.

– Edelman and cornerbacks Jonathan Jones, Jason McCourty and JC Jackson were good points. There were not many of them.
