SAN JOSE – There was a plethora of intrigues from the Sharks' 5-4 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Joe Thornton crushed his 400th career goal on almost everyone.
While the score was tied 4-4 in the final minutes of the regulation, the striker received a wonderful pass from fellow lineman Marcus Sorensen before sending the puck past the goalkeeper. Nashville, Juuse Saros.
The energy at the tank after the goal was electric. While his teammates overwhelmed him with joy, Thornton was filled with emotion as his 400th goal put the Sharks at the top 5-4.
"I was on the ice, it was great," said Joe Pavelski with a smile after the game. "It's hard to put in perspective sometimes what he's been able to accomplish."
The only thing that makes the goal even more impressive is that he is on an exclusive list of seven players in NHL history who scored 400 goals, totaled 1,000 assists and played over 1,500 games. It's no surprise that Thornton told the media that he was more concerned with helping the team win than marking the goal.

"I'm just trying to improve my game now," he said, reminding all those who are still fighting over the knee problems that sidelined him early in the season.
Wait, so he does not know to which very vaunted company he joined after having scored his 400th goal?
"No idea," he admitted. "I have not checked to be honest with you."
His teammates were more attentive.
"It's like every night there was some sort of statistic going on there," Pavelski said of his teammates' achievements. "They are fun to watch, they really are."
Defender Erik Karlsson has been a team-mate for Thornton for just over a month. But as he has already played against No. 19, he gave an overview of the situation of the Predators' defense when Thornton hit the ice.
"He's one of those guys you always need to know," Karlsson said. "You must always know where he is, because he is such a good hockey player and if he has the opportunity, you know he's going to charge you."
Of course, the goal would not have been possible without the magnificent configuration of Sorensen, with whom Thornton has been very successful playing lately.
"Marcus made an excellent game," complimented Thornton. "I like to play with him. It seems like we have some chemistry together now. "
When asked how it was to contribute to the milestone goal, Sorensen kept his answer clear.
"It was pretty cool," he said. "I'm happy for him."
