ArianeGroup, the rocket launch joint venture owned by Airbus and Safran, is set to reduce its workforce by 2,300 by 2022.
ArianeGroup said in a statement that the end of the development of its Ariane 6 "new generation" rocket and the need to maintain the competitiveness of the rocket launch sector in Europe 2022. "
The first flight of the new rocket is currently scheduled for 2020.
Staff reductions represent a 25% drop in paid staff and a higher percentage of all Ariane 5 employees, according to reports.
