A soccer referee in England was not rewarded for his creative problem-solving.
The English Football Association suspended referee David McNamara 21 days for having captains of Manchester City’s and Reading’s women’s league teams play “rock, paper, scissors” to determine who would kick off, ESPN reported.
McNamara forgot his coin in the locker room and decided on an impromptu change of plans, rather than make everyone wait for him to go retrieve it.
The problem is, the FA’s rulebook says a coin toss has to be the method to decide which side gets the ball first.
No word on who won the rock, paper, scissors game.
