Love, who closely trails his Democratic opponent, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams, requests in the lawsuit that the counting be stopped so that it may consider "whether the signatures on the ballot envelopes match the signatures on the Salt Lake County."
The lawsuit claims that the polls have been noted when signatures on the envelope do not match those on file.
"Given the time sensitivity of this petition, the petitioners request a hearing at the courts' convenience," the lawsuit adds.
In the lawsuit, filed in Utah 's 3rd District Court, Love seeks the ability to compete against the world of signatures on the ballot envelopes, asking that such votes remain uncounted until those challenges have been settled.
"The county has allowed polls to be observed, but those polls must be observed at a distance.
McAdams currently leads by a narrow margin of just over a thousand votes. More than 16,000 provisional ballots remain to be counted.
The race is still too close to call, but McAdams attended this week.
The McAdams campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
Love's lawsuit over signature disparities comes Republicans challenge vote counts in Florida's Senate and gubernatorial races. Many, including President TrumpDonald John TrumpDeath toll in Northern California wildfire rises to 48: Graham backs bill to protect Mueller Denham loses GOP seat in California MORE, have suggested that the GOP's narrowing lead in those races is due to vote fraud.
However, Trump has mocked Love, singling her out as a press conference.
"Mia Love gave me no love. And she lost. Too bad. Sorry about that Mia, "he said sarcastically.
Democrats have already flipped over 30 Republican House seats in the midterm elections, but that number could grow as the ballots continue to be counted from outstanding contests.
