A day after his arrest for domestic violence charges, Stormy Daniels' lawyer and 2020 contender, Michael Avenatti, suggested on social media that pro-Trump activist, Jacob Wohl, was behind his trial.

"First Mueller and now me. When we are fully exonerated, I will pick you up, Jacob Wohl, aka Surefire, "tweeted Avenatti.

Avenatti did not further explain the tweet nor responded to a request for comment.

Wohl, a former hedge fund manager and right-wing blogger, is a central figure in a widely dismissed plot that has accused Robert Mueller, a special advocate, of sexual misconduct. At a recent press conference in northern Virginia, where he argued his claims against Mueller, Wohl acknowledged his ties with a company called Surefire Intelligence. The private intelligence company's Twitter account tweeted Thursday a link to Avenatti's arrest, then said, "Surefire intelligence is hitting again."

Held Thursday, an associate of Wohl who associated with him on Mueller's charges, Jack Burkman, said he knew nothing about Avenatti's charges against Wohl and did not know more about his arrest until he receives media calls. "It must be a West Coast affair," said Burkman.

Wohl could not be reached for comment.

On Twitter, Wohl denied any involvement in Avenatti's situation and said that he considered Avenatti's "I'm coming for you" language to be a threat and informed the law enforcement.

"Michael Avenatti seems to believe that I am responsible for raising his hand to a woman. I'm not. Will he release the images of his battered victim?

Avenatti was arrested Wednesday afternoon on the 10,000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard and the police announced that he had been arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.

Prosecutors will finally determine whether formal charges will be laid against Avenatti, but they have not yet received his case for review, a spokesman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said Thursday. Avenatti is scheduled to appear in court on December 5, the police said.

After her arrest, Avenatti's ex-wife and second wife, Lisa Storie-Avenatti, with whom he is divorcing, issued statements in favor of Avenatti, claiming that he had never provided the slightest evidence of violence. On his release from prison, Avenatti told the press that he had never hit a woman and welcomed the opening of a thorough investigation which he said , would eliminate it.

Also on Thursday, Stephanie Clifford, Avenatti's most famous client, better known by her porn name Stormy Daniels, issued a statement that, if the charges against Avenatti were true, she would look for another representation. But she insisted that "we should all reserve our judgment" until the end of the investigation.
