WASHINGTON – Attorney Michael Avenatti said that despite his clash with the law on Wednesday night as a result of an alleged domestic violence incident, he was still discussing a candidacy at the White House.

"I'm still considering that," said Avenatti in the US TODAY's HUI in a text message.

For months, Avenatti flirted with a presidential bid for 2020 and began developing a campaign and possible strategy as it arose. He did not answer questions about the incident, but said his "top priority right now is to clean up my name."

"I will not be intimidated," said Avenatti in a text message. "The measure of a person is the way she gets up when she is knocked out."

But the obstacles in his way add up. On Wednesday, Avenatti, spokesman for President Donald Trump, a lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels, was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of domestic violence.

A few hours after he was taken into custody, Avenatti deposited a $ 50,000 bail and firmly denied having committed a wrongdoing while leaving the Los Angeles Police Department. He tweeted Thursday that he had been charged with nothing.

"I have never hit a woman, I will never hit a woman," Avenatti told reporters, adding that he was and that he would continue to be a "lawyer" of human rights. women.

Los Angeles police did not identify the alleged victim but stated that the person had visible injuries.

The two ex-wives of Avenatti came to his defense and issued statements that it was still a kind and loving father and husband.

Avenatti denied that he was charged with a crime, despite a contrary statement from the Los Angeles police.

In a tweet, Avenatti blamed the right-wing Internet provocateur, Jacob Wohl, for fomenting a plot to discredit special counsel Robert Mueller on false charges of sexual harassment.

"First Mueller and now me, when we are fully exonerated, I will come and get you Jacob Wohl," wrote Avenatti.

Avenatti did not immediately send additional text messages from the United States TODAY about the charges and he was convinced that this incident could pose a problem to his possible candidacy for the presidency.

Even before his arrest, Avenatti should have taken an interesting route to access the Democratic primary.

In addition to not having held a public position before, Avenatti was criticized for his role in the Supreme Court hearings on Brett Kavanaugh.

Some critics, Republicans and Democrats, have accused Avenatti of the success of Kavanaugh's confirmation as a Supreme Court judge. Critics have claimed that the allegations made several decades ago about a gang rape committed by his client, Julie Swetnick, cast doubt on the other allegations of sexual assault.

But, the recognition of the name of Avenatti, his high-profile legal struggles with Trump and his fiery-fire stance could muster Democratic support.

In recent weeks, he has gotten help from a group of seasoned Democratic advisers, Politico noted in October. The group includes those who worked on campaigns for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
