On Saturday, November 17 at 4:01 am EST (0:01 GMT), Northrop Grumman's Antares rocket will launch the Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station as part of Northrop Grumman's NG-10 mission.
The cargo spacecraft will carry approximately 7,400 pounds of food, clothing, equipment and scientific experiments to the space station. Northrop Grumman's Antares rocket will be launched with the spacecraft from Pad-0A at Virginia Space Mid-Atlantic Atlantic Regional Spaceport at NASA's Wallops flight facility in Virginia. The Northrop Grumman Antares rocket will be visible along the east coast of the United States.
The Cygnus Space Shuttle will carry scientific equipment, including a 3D printing recycling device called the Refabricator, a protein crystal culture experiment in partnership with the Michael J. The launch was originally scheduled for the morning of Thursday, November 15, but adverse weather conditions pushed the launch to Friday morning and Saturday. Starting this morning (16 November), officials said the weather was good for Saturday morning, with less than a 5 percent chance of weather-related problems and the launch was underway.
The Cygnus spacecraft is scheduled to arrive at the space station on Monday, November 19, the day after the landing of the Russian cargo spacecraft Progress with the station. The astronauts will attack the approaching Cygnus and connect it to the space station. Then the work will begin to unload the crucial cargo. According to officials, the probe should stay at the station for three months. After getting detached from the station, she will deploy cubesats and complete other missions before returning to Earth and burning over the South Pacific Ocean.
