A woman was killed and four injured in a collision with a truck in the Bronx Saturday morning, one of three collisions on the city's highways during the morning, authorities said.
The driver, aged 30, was declared dead at the scene of the accident after being found in the pier of the Great Deegan Highway, near the Bruckner Highway, shortly before 7 am, police said.
A woman in the back seat was rushed to the Lincoln Medical Center in critical condition and a man on board a shotgun was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition with an injury to leg.
Another man in the back seat was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in a stable condition with a back injury, officials said.
The truck driver, who is also 30 years old, remained on the scene and was taken to the Lincoln Medical Center in a stable condition. No arrests were made immediately.
About an hour earlier, a person had been seriously injured in an attack on the Long Island Expressway westbound near Kissena Boulevard at Kew Gardens Hills, the FDNY announced. Another person was seriously injured and five others were slightly injured. The seven men were taken to New York Hospital – Presbyterian Queens.
And around 4:45 am, a truck-trailer crushed against a splitter located on the Long Island Expressway eastbound near 188th Queens Street, police said. Three people were taken to the Jewish Medical Center on Long Island with minor injuries.
