There is light at both ends of the first tunnel of The Boring Company.

Elon Musk celebrated the success of his TBM business on Friday night as a key phase of one of the two ongoing projects in Los Angeles has ended. A little before 20:00 PT, Musk shared a video of a gigantic drilling rig crossing an opening marking the end of the company's Hawthorne Tunnel.

Work on the first "Hawthorne Test Tunnel" of The Boring Company began in mid-2017. He manages the headquarters of SpaceX (another company founded by Musk) and follows Hawthorne 120th St. for about two miles.

An opening ceremony is scheduled for December 10, when the public will be able to check the tunnel for the first time. It is interesting to note that The Boring Company's website describes the bit that will soon be over which will open December 10th as the "first section" of what will probably be a longer Hawthorne Tunnel.

There are also other projects under development. Also in L.A. is the "Dugout Loop", which will give residents of Los Felix, East Hollywood and Rampart Village easier access to the Dodger Stadium. Outside California, The Boring Company is also working on a "Chicago Express Loop" to facilitate access to the city's O & Hare airport and on an "East Coast Loop" that will connect Washington DC and Maryland .

The Hawthorne Tunnel is the smallest of these projects and can be described as a demonstration tunnel of the concept of The Boring Company. However, the opening of December 10 in less than a month now, opening on the other side of the tunnel – that workers have blocked behind the drilling machine – is a major step forward .
