Wagons fall from Georgia's overpass; no injuries reported
BYROMVILLE, GA (AP) – The CSX railway reports that an evacuation was lifted in a small Georgia town where 30 train cars derailed, some of which tumbled from an overpass on a highway.
That happened around 7 am Saturday in Byromville, about 90 km south of Macon.
CSX says in a press release that four of the cars contained liquefied petroleum gas. No leaks were reported, but officials monitored the quality of the air. No injuries were reported.
Resident Stephanie Chapman told The Associated Press that, at first, an evacuation had been called for much of the city, but that she had been allowed to go to her office about 300 meters from the site at noon, while efforts continued to clear the tumult of the cars of the Georgian road 90.
