The flyer Stephen Prosser is suing British Airways for sitting next to an obese passenger on a flight over two years ago, claiming that the plane had left him injured.
The airline confirmed the situation in a statement in the US TODAY Saturday.
"We welcome all passengers aboard our aircraft and our crew is trained to provide passengers with a comfortable trip," reads the statement. "We are pleased that our team has provided extra pillows and blankets to help Mr. Prosser make a more relaxing trip."
The statement also indicates that the airline "resists demand", but can not say more because "the case is the subject of ongoing proceedings".
CNN and The Independent reported that this 51-year-old man from South Wales told court officials in Pontypridd on Friday that he sat next to the "extremely bulky" passenger during a flight from 12 hours between Bangkok and London in January 2016 had left with spasm on the back and pelvic injury.
"I sat with his knees propped up against the seat in front and the rest of his body spilled a few inches into my seat," Prosser said. "I was immediately aware that it was going to be problematic for me and I could feel the weight of her own weight exerting lateral pressure on my upper body."
Prosser said that he had to stop working for three months and visit a chiropractor for two years following the incident.
Prosser added that he had not confronted the passenger because he seemed "shy", but that the flight crew had told him that no Another seat was available at the time of his complaint.
United States today addressed the county court of Pontypridd.
