A former World War II fighter plane crashed into the parking lot of an apartment complex in Fredericksburg, Texas, killing both people on board.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Lynn Lunsford said the plane had been destroyed and several cars had been damaged.
Texas Public Transportation Department, Sgt. Orlando Moreno confirmed both deaths at the San Antonio Express-News.
The Mustang P-51D fighter from the Second World War crashes at around 3:15 pm Saturday.
The Mustang was first built by North American Aviation in 1940 and was used by the US Army during the Second World War and the Korean War.
Fredericksburg is home to the National Museum of the Pacific War. The museum said on Twitter that one of the plane's passengers killed was a veteran. It is not known whether the people killed or the aircraft were associated with the museum, which has a collection of equipment and souvenirs from the Second World War.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA have announced that they will investigate the site, located about 113 km north of San Antonio.
