Two people were hit and killed by a scenic Wareham train south coast Saturday night, officials said.
The train operator called the police at 7:29 pm report that two pedestrians were struck near 72 Minot Ave, according to the Plymouth County Attorney's Office. And the paramedics who arrived determined the victims, a man and a woman, had died.
"The train was a scenic train carrying many passengers at the time of impact, and originally from Buzzards Bay," the prosecutor's office said. "No passengers on the train were injured."
State police said that they sent soldiers and a helicopter to help with the investigation.
