A new welterweight candidate has officially emerged in the Argentine club of Santiago Ponzinibbio.
In front of a local crowd Saturday night in Buenos Aires, Ponzinibbio beat Neil Mangy for more than three rounds before ending the fight with a breathtaking knockout in the main event.
While the fight took place around 3 am local time, the Argentinean public was alive and well to found Ponzinibbio on its most comprehensive show within the UFC.
Ponzinibbio set the tone early by setting his head jab that kept Magny constantly in the eye and giving him some vision problems during these exchanges. Magny continued to move and move away from Ponzinibbio's powerful hand, but he simply did not seem to be able to begin his attack.
Ponzinibbio kept control throughout the first round, mixing a few biting kicks and ending the five-minute session with a series of powerful punches against the cage.

From there, everything was Ponzinibbio with a punitive attack with a continuous attack on that leg while climbing so high with this left attack that was constantly finding a house on Magny's right eye.
The third round saw the same thing with Ponzinibbio acting as the aggressor, leaving Magny down and unloading with a huge barrage of punches, then hitting that leg with kicks.
As time passed, Magny visibly limped on the devoured leg that was alive with Ponzinibbio's kicks.
Finally, in the fourth round, Ponzinibbio's assault allowed Magny to fall several times on the mat with these same vicious kicks. Nevertheless, Magny was allowed to continue but the end was near after the last reversal.
Ponzinibbio once again got Magny locked up against the cage and it was then that he came out of a too brutal right that castigated the former rival of Ultimate Fighter and sent him face first in the canvas.
Referee Herb Dean rushed to stop the fight with the start of the match at 2:36 of the fourth round.
After a huge victory in his home country, Ponzinibbio did not take long to give the kickoff while he was hoping to bring back the title of the welterweight to him. UFC in Argentina in 2019.
"This right hand will serve as a knockout for all members of the division, I am the next world champion, and in 2019 the belt will arrive in Argentina," shouted Ponzinibbio.

It is unlikely that Ponzinibbio will get a shot at the title in his next fight, but he definitely scored his name in the competitor's race with this latest victory in overplay. He is likely to face one of the top five opponents when he returns in 2019, following his knockout victory on Saturday night.
