More snow and rain are expected, and Thanksgiving will be cold

Two strips of snow could be on their way to Boston as temperatures begin to plunge into the pre-Thanksgiving period.

The first wave of precipitation is expected to arrive late Sunday – probably around midnight – and last until Monday afternoon, according to Matthew Belk, a weather forecaster at the National Weather Service.

If there is snow, it will probably start to mix with the rain around 1 or 2 am, said Belk. Little or no accumulation is expected.

After a brief drought on Monday night, another system is expected to arrive late Monday night and end Tuesday afternoon, according to Belk.

"You will probably see flakes," he said, pointing out that little to no accumulation would be likely in Boston.

Tuesday, early in the morning, the chances of snow are the best, and a few centimeters are probably off Route 495, he said. In Boston, any mix of snow and winter will likely switch to rain between 9 and 11 am, said Belk.

The rest of the week should be dry, but temperatures should be a little colder each day as Thanksgiving approaches, which should be the coldest day of the week, according to the weather service.

After a peak near 39 degrees on Sunday and a night low of 34, Monday is expected to hit around 43 degrees.

Tuesday, the depression should be colder, around 41%, with a maximum Wednesday exceeding the first 30 years, according to forecasters

On Thursday, the lowest temperatures of the week were recorded, with a high close to 27 and a night overnight in the evening of Friday at around 17 degrees Celsius.

Friday will probably turn the tide, with a high of almost 35 degrees, the weather service announced.
