A Tennessee man accused of sexually assaulting a 16-month-old child is currently in custody after being captured in Alabama, police said.
Simon Dean Porter, 33, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was arrested in Scottsboro, Alabama on Sunday morning, according to the Tennessee Investigation Bureau.
Porter was added to the list of the top 10 most wanted by the bureau last week after authorities were informed of the attack by doctors at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. Porter was wanted for aggravated rape.
Porter's mother, Barbara Wright, urged her son to surrender on Friday.
"Son, if you like, bring yourself," Wright told the WKRN. "I love you so much my son.I do not want you to be hurt.I do not want anything to happen.Do the good thing, you know you did not do it. , bring yourself as you please, prove it you are innocent. "
