The big event of the week this week is Thanksgiving. It's traditionally a time for families to come together, eat a good meal, share stories, watch football and generally do everything extended families do.
Thursday is also the day before the traditional start of shopping for Christmas, the day known as "Black Friday".
Local law enforcement forces encourage residents to pay attention to their safety.
"Friday begins the shopping season," said Ray Schultz, chief of police at Memorial Villages. "Expect to receive customers as early as 3 am to prepare their Black Friday Deals. … Pay attention to your environment, reduce your handbags and handbags, keep your bags close to your body. Thanksgiving annual party
The Katy Community's eighth annual Thanksgiving will be hosted by the first Katy United Methodist Church, located at 5601 Fifth St., Katy, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22 from 11 am to 1 pm Visit www.katyfeast.org to sign up for the meal and for more information. Thanksgiving closure
The City of Katy will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. For residents who normally have a recycling service on the fourth Thursday, the service will be rescheduled for Friday, November 23. For residents who will normally have a collection service on Friday, the service will be postponed until Saturday, November 24th.
All branches of Fort Bend County Libraries will be closed from Thursday, November 22 to Sunday, November 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular library hours will resume Monday, November 26. The online library is always open at www.fortbend.lib.tx.us for catalog search, book renewal or hold, streaming of movies and music, downloading eBooks, or using search databases. The libraries of Maud Marks, Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek and Katy will close at 5pm. Wednesday, November 21st. The branches of the Harris County Public Library will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from November 22-25.
Katy ISD schools are off Thanksgiving November 19-23.
