All this was packed and on November 16, 1974, beamed to the M13 star cluster. As interesting as the experience is, the project was not intended to be a serious attempt to make contact. After all, M13 is 25,000 light-years away, meaning that no potential response would arrive before at least 50,000 years. By the time the signal arrives, the cluster may not even be in the right position.
