Just in time for the holiday season, Doctor Who gave us an episode we will think of every time we receive a package from Amazon. "Kerblam!", Written by Pete McTighe, showed what could happen when companies become 90% automated: people would remain the main danger.

Where did she meet Judy (BroadchurchJulie Hesmondhalgh), the "manager" who was very proud of the fact that the company has the largest human workforce in the galaxy (the 10% required at all levels). The team posed as a new team and was given tasks, as well as ankle bracelets to track their movements and productivity.
Yaz's kind colleague, Dan, pissed off his story by telling him that he only went twice a year to see his six-year-old daughter because he was saving his salary for his studies. Obviously, he was going to die, which he did when he took Yaz's place to pick up something in a desolate area of the warehouse where Dan knew another worker had been fired (or rather , seized by a bot and killed later). Yaz followed Dan, heard him screaming and found only his daddy's collar (he had said he'd do it better than him!) And his scanner snapped. The doctor and Ryan also learned from sincere Kira, their colleague in the packaging industry, that a few workers had recently left the company. Graham, meanwhile, was working at the interview with the friendly lonely Charlie, who seemed surprised to have a new colleague and clearly had a crush on Kira.

WE ARE TOTALLY NOT DEAD. | The doctor interviewed Judy and Warehouse Manager Jarva Slade about the missing employees, and then waited to sneak into Slade's office with Ryan and Yaz to search. They found it odd that he had paper files in a binder containing the disappearances. Judy followed their ankle bracelets (hey, the doctor can not remember everything) and seemed to prove her innocence when she tore off a bot that was trying to kill Charlie during a blackout. She made care about his employees. What you may have missed, is that the bot, which had reported an error, was saying "Investigate … Investigate … Investigate" while he was holding Charlie to his throat. The system, which we later learned, was trying to thwart Charlie's plan and spawn a lot of victims and sent the message to the doctor, should he keep this bot powered up?
From there, the action resumed: Kira was told that she was the employee of the day and that she would receive a gift – something she had never had before in her life. Judy received a notification from the system that Kira was missing (which was new) and her signal was last detected when she was sent to the foundation, where all the energy was exhausted. Ryan took stock of the rescue mission, which led him, Yaz and Charlie in a fall with Goonies-the level of joy and terror. It was conveyor belts out of sight (very Monsters Inc. door sequence). When Charlie fell on a treadmill under them, Yaz and Ryan held hands and jumped to join him together (you were enjoying this moment, shippers?). At this point, we still did not suspect Charlie. So it was nice to see how much he seemed to appreciate not being alone.
"SYSTEMS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. HOW PEOPLE USE AND EXPLOIT THE SYSTEM IS THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE LIKE YOU. & # 39; | At the same time, the Doctor had managed to communicate with an original Kerblam! Deliverybot named Twirly, which, just like the practical layout of the facility obtained by Graham, was easily visible at the warehouse. The Doctor connected Twirly to the system and learned the truth about the HELP ME message. The system now had more to say: urgent help was needed for the expedition. At the foundation level, they found Slade, who had documented the missing employees on paper because he did not trust the system. They also found a tank of liquefied remains (very Bones) and a literal army of delivery men holding parcels. The drains fed by the facility were efforts to store enough energy to send all the deliverymen at the same time. What does each package have in common? Bubble wrap.
The Doctor's thesis was confirmed when Kira, who had been taken to an interrogation room, finally received her gift. All there was inside was a small sheet of bubble wrap. She burst one of the bubbles and kaboom! Charlie had hit the mirror and screamed that she was not doing it – Yaz and Ryan understood that it meant that he knew something bad was going to happen.
In the end, Charlie confessed. His generation was not going to stay away when only 10% of people were going to work. He had lied about who he was; he was in fact someone who studied robots, explosives and teleportation. He had taken employees as test subjects to make sure his little bombs would be effective. The doctor told Charlie that the system had led Kira to show her what others would feel if their loved ones were murdered in order to undermine people's confidence in automation and make them look like Imperfect technology he cares about the fact that he was the one who had malfunctioned as the system was fighting to do what was right. He pressed the button to activate the broadcast and destroyed the gadget. The Doctor used Twirly to change the address of all shipments on this one – and order the delivery men to open the packages and do what everyone else does with bubble wrap. She tried to get Charlie to go with them when she teleported the group safely, but he stayed and died with his plan.
