After a chaotic narrative that drew national attention to South Florida, Broward County election supervisor Brenda Snipes resigned from her position Sunday.
The news, first reported by the Sun Sentinel, arrives after an intense two-week period following the November mid-term elections and violent attacks on Snipes and his office, as Broward recounts ballots from controversial Senate and Florida governor disputes .
Burnadette Norris-Weeks, a lawyer in the Office of the Election Supervisor, told Sun Sentinel that Snipes had sent his letter of resignation to spend more time with his family. Norris-Weeks did not immediately respond to a Washington Post e-mail.
