Clint Eastwood started his own talk show from the stage

With Oprah Winfrey in the audience, Clint Eastwood became the host of a talk show from the podium while awarding the honorary Oscar to Schifrin, who wrote film scores like "Cool Hand Luke", "Dirty Harry" and the famous theme song of the TV series "Mission: Impossible".

Rather than read a traditional laudatory introduction, Eastwood called Schifrin on stage to answer some questions. The podium discussion session went well between the two people who collaborated on eight films.

"You have this guy here, you can bring him home, you can go around and show people, put him in the front of your car." said Eastwood, looking at Schifrin's Oscar. "What do you think?"

"Well, it's really nice to talk to you," Schifrin said, laughing a lot.

Cicely Tyson made the audience cry

Cicely Tyson, a pioneering African-American actress, recounted how she was brought to a Niagara Falls-type water treatment plant when she discovered her honorary Oscar. At the end of his passionate speech, Tyson (who turns 94 next month) then made the audience cry with his speech of emotional acceptance.

"The Help" and "The Diary of a Crazy Black Woman" talked about her first Oscar nomination 45 years ago for "Sounder" and her burning desire to show her stern mother that she she had made as an actress.

Before her mother's death, she told Tyson that she was proud.

"I think if I had not heard those words from her, none of this would make a difference to me," said Tyson, showing her trophy to heaven. "I know you did not want me to do that, but I did it, and here it is."

Spielberg gave the origins of the Hollywood power couple

Steven Spielberg has given more than expected to introduce his long-time collaborators, married producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who have jointly won the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

The trio co-founded Amblin Productions in 1981 and Spielberg explained the beginning of the conjugal relationship (they have been married for 31 years).

"I went into my office and saw them both putting themselves on my couch, from where I was and from what I saw, I was suddenly the third wheel," he said. Spielberg, while the audience laughed with surprise.

"I'm not sure I can recover from the history of the sofa," said Kennedy accepting his award. But the president of Lucasfilm then invited the audience to talk about the importance of the film award.

"We are very honored to share the Thalberg Award as a married couple. And I'm also very honored to be the first woman to accept this honor, "Kennedy said, pausing for the standing ovation that followed his words. "But I'm not the first to deserve that, and I'm 100% sure that I'm not the last to win it."

Tom Hanks thanked a great publicist

It took the actor Tom Hanks to explain why Marvin Levy was the first publicist to receive an Academy Award Oscar.

"If you worked for Marvin, you were told what to say or directions you were given, and you were told what to NOT say," Hanks said. "Pay attention to what he says about these two things."

Levy has called the Oscar "honor the most surprising and exciting reward I can imagine".
