(Reuters) – Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) might be interested in a partnership with Daimler AG (DAIGn.DE) Mercedes-Benz on an electric version of its Sprinter van, said CEO Elon Musk in a tweet right here Monday.

The latest generation of Sprinter vans debuted in February of this year and Mercedes-Benz plans to offer electric versions starting next year.
Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Daimler declined to say whether he was open to a collaboration with Tesla, but a spokesman welcomed Musk's interest in the van.
Last month, Dieter Zetsche, outgoing CEO of Daimler, reportedly told a Polish newspaper that he did not rule out in the future to cooperate with Tesla, while the German luxury car maker had sold its stake in the US electric vehicle company.
The company's veteran, Ola Kaellenius, was recently named Daimler's chief executive officer for next year.
