China major reforms, such as the ban on new coal-fired power plants, the closure of mines and the limitation of the number of cars, but the average person loses 3.9 years of life expectancy and the inhabitants of the most polluted areas lose nearly seven years.

Nepal has the highest average particle concentration of any country and reduces average life by 5.4 years. Most of the worst places are along the border with India.

In Europe, air pollution is part of an ongoing battle, although it has generally improved since 1998. The most polluted European country is Polandwhere people lose on average two years.
