Danish star Lars Mikkelsen has been awarded the best actress. German Anna Schudt was awarded the Actress Award with the BBC, which won two awards, including Best Documentary for Goodbye Aleppo.
European talent was highlighted at the 46th International Emmy Awards held in New York on Monday.
Shows from the UK, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Portugal all won the grand prizes at the ceremony held at the New York Hilton Midtown and animated by the comedian Hari Kondabolu. In total, the 11 prizes were awarded to actors and programs from 10 countries.
Danish star Lars Mikkelsen (Room of cards, Sherlock) won the Best Actor Award for his role as a Johannes Priest in the religious drama Herrens Veje (walk on the storm).
German Anna Schudt won the Best Actor Award for the role of comedian Gaby Köster in black comedy Ein Schnupfen hätte auch gereicht (the sniffles would have been good).
Spanish espionage drama The Casa de Papel (Money Heist) won the coveted award for the best drama series. The drama, created by Alex Pina, is centered on a multi-day raid on the Royal Spanish Mint.
The BBC won Best Doc for its heartbreaking documentary on the war in Syria Bye Aleppo, as well as the price of the best TV movie / miniseries for the multi-generation drama Man in the orange shirt, with Vanessa Redgrave and written by Patrick Gale.
The gala also saw two special awards handed out. Dana Walden, President and CEO of Fox Television Group, presented the International Emmy Director Award to Sophie Turner Laing, Executive Director of Endemol Shine Group. And Blind spot Star Sullivan Stapleton and producer Julie Plec presented the International Emmy Founders Award to prolific producer-director-producer-producer Greg Berlanti.
