Still have not decided where to visit this Thanksgiving? Here are 5 holiday ideas.

From Jill Becker, CNN Special

Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday season of the year, with tens of millions of people expected. Trip.

For anyone who does not charge the SUV to trek to the homestead of the family, here is some other options you may want to consider: (And you do not even need a passport.)

  • Discover where it all started in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This historic settlement south of Boston, where travelers aboard the Mayflower landed in 1620, was the site of the first Thanksgiving. Visitors to Plymouth can step back in time and explore the Mayflower II, a life-size replica of the famous sailboat.
  • Attend a parade in Philadelphia. The Thanksgiving Day Parade Philadelphia 6abc Dunkin Donuts is the oldest. Originally sponsored by Gimbels, this tradition has been in Philadelphia since 1920. A steady stream of party floats, giant balloons, fanfares, choirs, dance troupes and even Santa Claus animates the downtown for long hours .
  • Get on a plane and fly to Sonoma County, California. If you are one of those people who have to ride in the size of pants after Turkey Day, a trip to Mecca from this food lover should be on the menu. You'll see valleys filled with vineyards, towering redwoods and a rugged coastline.
  • Shop in New York. Start your holiday gift purchase in the Big Apple. Whether you visit Barneys, Bergdorf, Bloomingdale or any of the thousands of storefronts that are in between, you are sure to find something special for someone special.
  • Ride down the slopes of Salt Lake City, Utah. If you prefer to be active outdoors, grab your Gore-Tex and get a lift ticket. There are 11 ski resorts within an hour of the Salt Lake City International Airport, so you can get off the plane and fill up with powder in record time.
