Kevin Love, the Cleveland Cavaliers' forward, said Tuesday that he was expecting to remain in office until "sometime after the new year".
The love suffered a toe operation on Nov. 2 and the Cavs announced that it would be absent for at least six weeks. December 14, six weeks after the operation.
On Tuesday, Love told ESPN's The Jump that her absence would last more than six weeks. He said that he was going "in and out" of a boot for another two weeks.
"Nothing says for the moment, with the weight-for-weight injury, how it will look like, but I expect to be back after the new year," he said.
Love underwent surgery to repair a painful left foot injury. The injury had bothered him since the start of the pre-season and had affected his ability to walk.
He has played four games this season, totaling 19 points and 13.5 rebounds. He missed 45 games because of injuries from the previous two seasons. The five-star player signed a $ 120 million four-year contract extension this summer.
