Move aside, Birdman or (the unexpected virtue of ignorance). The longest, strangest and most oddly penned bird film title now belongs to Birds of prey.
EW has confirmed that the full name of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn-centric Suicide team the spin-off will be Birds of Prey (and the fantastic emancipation of Harley Quinn). Robbie revealed the news with an image on her Instagram account of Christina Hodson's script for the movie. The actress had added Harley-esque doodles and the handwritten subtitle:
The subtitle is not content to put the saucer of Harley in the foreground; he also hints at a potential scenario for Birds of prey. The bows of the character's comic since the redesign of DC in 2011 have focused on it. She took flight: her solo series since 2013, Harley Quinn, Written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, presented her in a romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. In 2016, the 25th issue of the series saw her cut her ties with the Joker once and for all. Did Harley Quinn leave the Joker behind him? "Fantastic emancipation" indeed.
For the moment, however, Warner Bros.'s film. simply said that Harley teamed up with a group of hero and anti-hero women, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell in Black Canary, Rosie Perez in Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain. The team will face Ewan McGregor in the role of Black Mask, a DC villain, under the direction of Cathy Yan.
Birds of Prey (and the fantastic emancipation of Harley Quinn) – good luck for that on the theater marquees! – will be released in cinemas on February 7, 2020.
