Since the launch of the first module of the Baikonur Cosmodrome on November 20, 1998, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the International Space Station has offered a whole new perspective to the planet. Join us as we celebrate 20 years of international collaboration and research to benefit Earth with the longest time since ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst.
In just under 15 minutes, this clip takes you from Tunisia to Beijing and Australia in two trips around the world. You can track the location of the station using the map at the top right of the screen, alongside the annotations on the photos themselves.
This timelapse includes about 21,375 images of the Earth, all captured by Alexander from the International Space Station and 12.5 times faster than actual speed.
